WildlifeIt’s not surprising that Mecklenburg County is famous for its water recreation that is unmatched in the Commonwealth of Virginia. What many folks do not know is that there are awesome places for hiking and biking in the county.

Mecklenburg is blessed to be home to 17 Wildlife Management Areas. These areas combined have 9,000 acres of protected land with abundant trails for hiking and biking. As the name suggests, be prepared to see wildlife, including some of the finest birdwatching anywhere in the mid-Atlantic region.

Occoneechee State Park and the Tobacco Heritage Trail are also popular places for hiking and biking. 

When you pack your canoe and fishing rod for your visit to Mecklenburg County, don’t forget your hiking boots and bike.
